A linguistic landscape analysis of shop signs

چکیده
It is surprising to find that there have been many shops in Banda Aceh use English on their signs. This study was conducted investigate the shop owners’ reasons for using To obtain data from owners, observation sheet and interview guide were used as research instruments. The analyzed by model proposed Miles, Huberman, Saldana (2014). found 10 owners gave four they signs, which can be classified into themes. They are 1) easily remembered; 2) follow trend; 3) own name; 4) unique. In conclusion, among terms of theme “becoming unique” or distinctive most given reason owners.
